Thx. for your note. I'm finally starting to dig out from under. I'm running a little behind, so let me catch up and I'll respond to your email in greater depth. I know some of this is cut & paste, and apologize if this is redundant to information you’ve already received, but I’m just trying to make people aware of information they, or others they know, might find useful. So, in the mean time let me suggest -3- things:
1) Ron Bates, a networking colleague who is the most connected person in the world on LinkedIn, and the US Country Manager for Ecademy, just wrote an article you might find of interest: Ten Commandments for Conducting a Successful Proactive Job Search which is hosted at www.job-search-campaign.com. The feedback has been great.
“The Ten Commandments are lucid and brilliant...I have passed it on to several of my friends - candidates and recruiters. Excellent advice, I must say.” – J. Jose 07/05/06
“I saw your 10 Commandment treatise in a Gray Hair Management update over the weekend. All I can is ‘Wow, it’s the best career search advice synopsis I have read to-date’. What’s unique is you’ve operationalized every critical step in the process, and balanced what not to do with what to do.” – J. Marciszewski 05/08/06
2) Make sure to check out Ecademy. Ecademy is a worldwide Business Network founded in 1998, connecting business people to share knowledge, contacts, support and transactions. Ecademy is growing fast worldwide, and the platform offers much more than the other business network websites with a strong emphasis on blogging, doing deals, joining online & offline clubs and jobs. I’ve developed some incredibly fruitful business relationships on Ecademy.
Want to be on the first page of hits when someone does a Google search on your name? Just look at this example. Join Ecademy and in a short amount of time your Ecademy profile (which could be your – entire – resume or more) will be one of the top hits in Google. Just Google Ron’s name (i.e., Ron Bates) and see how his Ecademy profile ranks on Google, MSN and Yahoo let alone how he was able to get his 1-page bio hosted on his firm's website to rank on Google's first page, 1st or 2nd hit on MSN, and 1st or 2nd hit on Yahoo. You can’t even come close to this kind of exposure via other mechanisms…to say nothing of how you can drive the ranking of other hosted documents or web pages up via Ecademy. Happy to chat with you about how I’m leveraging the power of Ecademy to raise my own ranking in the search engines if you like as well.
Ron sent me an E-mail reinforcing this:
“I had a lengthy discussion with Ron Bates on Tuesday about the powerful tool that Ecademy is. For instance - Google loves the algorithm of Ecademy. I have no idea what that means, but I do know that as soon as I put some content on Ecademy my name popped up on the first page of a Google search. Prior to that I was nowhere to be found! (Go ahead, try it! I'm right there on page one!)” – Sean Harry
To view a video overview of Ecademy I invite you just click this button.
By signing up for an annual PowerNetworker subscription on Ecademy, you’ll also get an addition 3 months added to your membership (i.e., 15 months for the price of 12). The platform membership is not only less expensive than LinkedIn, it is significantly more powerful.
Sincerely,
John Smith
